Mission Statement

The Heavener Police Department will provide for the general protection, safety and well being of all residents, businesses and visitors. This will be accomplished through a proactive approach in the prevention, detection and investigation of criminal activity.

We seek to contribute to the highest quality of life for the entire City through the assistance, involvement and interaction of the citizens we have pledged to serve.

 Mary King School Resource Officer

School Resource Officer (SRO)

Mary King has served in this position since 2002 and provides a positive police presence in the Heavener School System. Her duties include: Traffic control during morning drop off and evening pick-up of students. Coordination with school crossing guard and bus drivers about problems that they encounter. She provides random foot and vehicle patrols through out the campus, parking areas, hallways, and athletic areas for detection and interdiction in drug and alcohol use, tobacco usage, and violence prevention.

During the year she provides classroom discussion when requested and talks on various subjects including:
  • School zone driving safety presentation to licensed drivers in grades 10 through 12.
  • 911 Emergency awareness and the proper way to use it in case of emergencies.
  • Drug awareness discussions geared toward the consequences associated with drug use.
  • Alcohol awareness training on the problems that arise from the illegal use of alcohol.
  • Anti-Violence presentation will provide students an awareness of violence in our county.
  • Anti-Gang training to provide students with the understanding that gangs are not in their best interest, teach them warning signs and consequences of association with gang activities.
  • Gun safety with emphasis on the correct way to handle firearms during the hunting season and the need for students to enroll in a Hunter Safety Course.
  • Domestic abuse discussion geared towards female students in classes 9 through 12th grades to discuss the steps students should take if they become victims of domestic abuse or violence.
  • Anti-Discrimination / Racial Profiling discussions to help students become aware of the problems that arise as a result of discriminating against someone because of their race, and to help students with understanding for other cultures and their beliefs.
  • Truancy and the consequences of not attending classes.
